PERBANDINGAN LAMA PENYIMPANAN SIKAT GIGI TERHADAP JUMLAH KOLONI BAKTERI PADA SIKAT GIGI SAAT PENYIMPANAN

The cause of the onset of oral disease is plaque, debris and the rest of food. One of prevention that can be done to preserve the health of the oral cavity is by mechanical action that is by brushing teeth with toothbrush. Toothbruses may become heavily contaminated with microorganisms, these microorganisms may originate not only from the oral cavity but also from the environment where the toothbrushes are stored. The purpose of this research was to determine amount of bacterial colonieson toothbrush during they were kept. This research is laboratory experimental. Samples in this study were 30 pieces of toothbrush divided into 3 treatments performed in parallel with the storage period of 1 day, 2 days and 7 days. Univariate data analyzing was done to descript. The amount of bacterial colonies of each variables and Shapiro-wilk normality test was done to see normal distribution. Then Post-hoc test was done to determine which treatment shows the significant difference of the amount of bacterial colonies.The result showed the average of amount of bacterial colonies on the toothbrushes which were kept for 1 day were 64,60 x 105, for 2 days were 78,90 x 105 and for 7 days were 171,90 x 105.Based on this research, the conclusion is there was significant difference of the amount of bacterial colonies on the toothbrushes which were kept for 1 day, 2 days and 7 days.
